Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a manuscript evaluation and a developmental edit?

A manuscript evaluation is a detailed editorial letter (3+ pages) explaining your current strengths and weaknesses in the foundational aspects of your work.

The editorial letter is thorough and gives valuable feedback that you can take and apply to strengthen your writing.

A developmental edit includes this editorial letter and in-line comments directly on the manuscript. The in-line comments give specific areas to work on with examples, questions, and detailed suggestions to strengthen your piece.

What is the process of working with you?

First, you will contact me through this form to inform me about your project and goals. I will email you a link to fill out the client questionnaire. If you choose to move forward with me, I will send your invoice and editorial contract. I will then work on and deliver your manuscript within the time frame we have agreed on.

We will schedule a meeting to review everything if you want to discuss any questions about the editorial feedback.

How should I submit my manuscript?

Please submit your manuscript as a double-spaced Word document in size 12 font in Times New Roman with one-inch margins. In the heading, please include your last name, title, and page number.

What editing program do you use?

I use Microsoft Word for all of my editing services. I use the in-line comments to provide detailed feedback along with a thorough editorial letter.
